Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo beats Barcelona rival Lionel Messi by almost £10m to top yearly earnings table

Cristiano Ronaldo has battled it out with Lionel Messi for the vast majority of his career and now the Real Madrid superstar has another edge on his Barcelona rival.
The Portuguese is the highest earning footballer in the world, according to France Football, pocketing almost £10m more than the Argentinian for this season when factoring in wages, bonuses and income from advertising.
Los Blancos' talisman has earned an enormous £75.62 (€87.5m) this season - £9.5m more than Barca's Messi, who will take home £66.12m (€76.5m).
Incredibly, Ronaldo's total is more than double every other player in the world other than Messi and his teammate Neymar, who will earn £47.97m (€55.5) this term.


Gareth Bale is fourth on the list with a combined £35.43m (€41m), while the top five is rounded off with a surprise entrant.Ezequiel Lavezzi, who plays for Hebei China Fortune, cashed in by moving to the Chinese Super League from PSG in February 2016
